Synopsis
During some experiments with water, a group of scientists are surprised by a visit from Blup, an aquatic creature who suddenly bursts into their laboratory. He slips into a glove, slides down a pipe, and pours himself into the bathtub and other containers. Along the way, it encounters plumbing fixtures that come to life and become the heroes of the puppets’ adventures. Blup observes everything that happens and comes to the aid of those in need: it gives a thirsty puppy a drink, puts out a fire, waters a flower, and cleans up dirt. But we only realise its kindness and importance when it suddenly disappears.
Human beings are biologically and culturally connected to water, which is with us at every moment of our lives. Its sounds bring us back into contact with nature and the freshness of its inspiration; we admire its flexibility and brilliance and at the same time fear its destructive power.
Children have a special affinity with water. They are drawn to its proximity: splashing, jumping in puddles and paddling in water are some of the games most loved by children. The authors also followed this “friendship” when creating the sound and visual image of the show.
Live music is performed on a series of original water instruments, and water is used as the main medium for animating the puppets: it is formless itself, but can take on any shape.
