Synopsis
Gianni Rodari’s historic tale, ‘The Road That Led Nowhere’, comes to life in a new narrative enriched by original polyphonic songs accompanied by live music.
The show recounts the adventure of Martina, a curious and determined little girl who one day decides to find out where the road leads that everyone in the village says goes nowhere, a belief that no one has ever gone to verify for themselves. But our protagonist, thanks to her stubbornness, decides to embark on an adventurous journey that will take her to a fantasy world, like any self-respecting fairy tale, complete with antagonists, trials to overcome, helpers and the right final reward. A story that teaches us how important it is to believe in our dreams and ideas despite everything and everyone.
The dramatic play, halfway between narration and action, involves the audience at key moments, together with the actress and musician, in an interaction that is at times hilarious.
Teaching through vision
The show aims to represent, in artistic form, a paradigm that underpins our thinking and our teaching approach with children: the unity of words, music, movement and visual arts, actively and creatively experienced through full physical, cognitive and emotional involvement in theatrical play. This musical theatre “for children”, both here in the show and in the workshops conducted in schools, is not, however, “small” theatre. Children are given all the dignity they deserve: there is live acting, dancing and singing for them in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Below are some suggestions for introducing children to the show, some to be done in class before going to the theatre, others afterwards. The “after” consolidates the experience, adding to the child’s cultural background.
