Synopsis
Several hours before the sun rises, the dawn chorus begins.
It is a confused chirping, buzzing, squeaking, whistling, tinkling, trilling and barking of birds, singing at the same time and more vigorously than at any other time of the day, as if in a universal poetry contest, in which each poet simultaneously shouts out their compositions.
The Dawn Chorus is a real communication tool, with which the birds, in the morning, declare their presence, recognise each other’s voices and, above all, maintain social cohesion within their communities.
So every morning, like a real choir, they tune up, synchronise and, together, launch themselves into a dive.

Director’s notes
Il Coro dell’Alba (The Dawn Choir) is an immersive show that combines theatre, sound design and visual projections to recount the fascinating mystery of the entanglement between all living beings.
Through the metaphor of birds and their songs, the show explores the symphony of the universe, where every creature is interconnected and its actions resonate throughout the entire ecosystem. The show follows the journey of a flock of migratory birds that communicate and orient themselves, connected to each other in a single great breath. The puppets, made of cables and natural materials, move on stage like living creatures, emitting sounds that become part of a soundscape, a visual simulation of the intertwining that, like a continuous embrace, binds us all together.
The project
Il Coro dell’Alba (The Dawn Choir) is a puppet theatre show for children aged 6 and up, a poetic tale, a high-altitude flight into the extraordinary lives of birds.
In a constantly changing sound and visual landscape, winged puppets come to life to tell the story of a collective journey, crossing physical and invisible boundaries, in a succession of encounters, transformations and discoveries.
The show unfolds like an imaginative journey, in which the audience is invited to reflect on the invisible connections that bind every living being to its surrounding environment and to discover how even the slightest movement can influence the entire ecosystem.
Birds become a symbol of unity and interconnection, of a world that, while seemingly divided into multiple realities, is united by an invisible thread that connects them all.
Why birds?
The concept of invisible connections that unite all things in the world is at the heart of the show.
During their journeys, birds are not limited to being separated by physical distances, but find themselves in a continuous state of connection with the earth, the sky, and other living beings. Every chirp, every flap of wings, every variation in flight will be a fragment of voices intertwining with those of others.
Birds challenge their own limits by nature, reaching those spaces that seem unreachable, and thus invite us to take our thoughts “beyond”, to overcome our limits.
They fly in flocks and in these group situations they actively collaborate, demonstrating the power that collectivity can have, setting a concrete example of solidarity, even among birds of different species.
Their variety, their particular intelligence, acute and developed, the multiple languages and “dialects” they use, and therefore their profound communicative ability, make these creatures the perfect metaphor for humanity, without involving humans. This decentralisation of man becomes essential in order to describe the unbreakable bond that exists between all things in the ecosystem.
In our eyes, they tell the story of humanity through animality.
